The
Division is located in the northwest of Pakistan at the base of
Himalayan Mountains Series. It lies between 33-44’ to 35-35’ north
latitudes and 72-3’ to74-05’ east longitudes. Hazara Division
located on the eastern of NWFP, Situated between river Jhelum
and Indus River. The river Jhelum on east side and the Indus on
the West side of Hazara Divsion. On The East side the sate of
Azad Jammu and Kashmir, The Swabi and Swat Districts are on West
side of Hazara. In the north lie Chilas, Gilgit and a part of
Kohistan. On the South and Southeast are the Districts of
Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Attock. The famous Silk Route (Now known
as Karakuram Highway) runs through this valley from south to north
along the River Indus. Hazara Division comprises five distracts
namely Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan. The
total area of the division is 18013 sq.km with a population (1998)
of 3.471 millions as per District. |
